Reverse Advent calendar
It is that time of the year again, when we begin to look ahead to the Christmas period. Micah Liverpool will see our foodbank numbers increase over the next few weeks as demand is always greatest in December. Last year we gave out over 1900 food parcels during this period and we expect to give out even more in 2023. In response to this we have launched our annual reverse advent calendar appeal. It’s a fun, new twist on the traditional advent calendar and helps you to organise a donation of 25 items we can use in our food parcels. It includes a selection box and a new toy so that every child receives a gift from Father Christmas. To find out more about this appeal click here or contact paul.obrien@liverpoolcathedral.org.uk

A bed for every head
In July, Micah Liverpool launched its bed poverty project in partnership with national charity Zarach. In just 5 months, the project has supported 20 children and provided 12 beds to families across the city. This is largely due to the work of our fantastic volunteers who have built good relationships with the local schools to advertise the service and take up the referrals. We’re on course to deliver 100 beds by the end of July 2024. The support we’ve received from Zarach has been invaluable as this project continues to grow. New Community Market
Micah Liverpool is proud to announce our newest community market opened in partnership with Liverpool Adult Learning Service. In September one of our partners C3 Church closed their building meaning we were forced to move our Friday market. Thankfully Granby Adult Learning Centre were on hand to offer us a new home. This partnership has been very successful as we registered 75 new users in our 1st week, we have now been delivering the community market for over a month and we continue to see new people each week. Recruitability
The Micah Liverpool recuitabilty project recently supported its 10th person into employment. This year Micah Liverpool has supported 41 participants on the programme and now 25% have moved into employment. We continue to engage with those who are looking for work and offer support to those in employment. If you are an employer who is looking for staff in the lead up to Christmas and have vacancies to fill please contact Jayne.hennessy@liverpoolcathedral.org.uk to find out more.
